New CompTIA Network+ N10-007

What is the expected release date of the new Network+ N10-007?

The current Network+ exam N10-006 was released in July of 2015. CompTIA is on a three-year renewal schedule for all its major certifications and Network+ absolutely falls in that category, 2018 is the year for the next exam update. The Network+ N10-005 was retired on July 31, 2015, as CompTIA was offering its usual six-month grace period during which it allowed users to choose between N10-005 and N10-006. We should expect Network+ N10-007 sometime in the summer of 2018.

UPDATE from CompTIA since we first wrote this post: The release is targeted for March 1, 2018. Click here to read about expected differences between Network+ N10-006 and N10-007.

CompTIA is certified too!

The reason the release date is so important to CompTIA is that just as CompTIA offers you to get certified and controls the Network+ certification process, CompTIA itself is also submitting itself to a certification requirement. Some years ago CompTIA applied for and got approved for the International Standards Organization quality certification. It should be comforting to all of us to know that the organization that controls our certification process is itself quality certified by an independent body. The ISO quality certification verifies that CompTIA has put in place the processes and procedures that ensure they produce the highest quality certification programs.

Why you should care that CompTIA is certified

Mainly for these two reasons: 1) as mentioned above its beneficial to the quality and therefore he credibility of your certification, and 2) it gives you an outer time limit as to when you can expect a new exam version to come out. This is because part of CompTIA’s requirements to retain its ISO certified status is to apply the three-year renewal limit on any version of their certification exams. Anything later than July 2018 for the new Network+ N10-007 exam version is therefore very unlikely.

When to expect the CertBlaster Network+ Practice Test for N10-007

The last release of a CompTIA “big three” exam version was the A+ 220-901 and 220-902 which came out in December of 2015. The CertBlaster practice test suite came out on December 15th, 2015. We plan on doing the same for the Network+ practice test suite for N10-007. So that means we are targeting our release of the Network+ N10-007 CertBlaster for March 2018.

In the meantime, if you are looking for the current N10-006 Network+ practice tests just click on the button below. You may wonder if you should take Network+ N10-006 when that version will be replaced soon? Well, first it’s not all that soon (could be up to a year still), and second, you are not wasting anything because when the new version comes out and the N10-006 is retired it does not make the N10-006 invalid.

Note on Network+ Exam Validity

Your CompTIA certification is valid for three years from the exam date. No matter what. This means that even if you were to pass the current Network+ N10-006 in January of 2018 the credential will still be valid till 2021 even if the new N10-007 is released shortly after in 2018.

    1. If you have been studying from this book for any amount of time you are probably better off taking the N10-006 test. The passing score is about 85% and the difference in content between the two exams is about 30%. So, if you studied for N10-006 then your chances of success are far greater with N10-006 than N10-007. Whichever exam you pass, you will be just as certified for three years from the exam date.
